Installation view of my degree show space
Intro
For my MFA degree show, I am presenting an immersive installation as my central work, exploring the intersection of analogue and digital signals.
The exhibition features camera-less images translated through contemporary media technologies. These are shown alongside automatic drawings, traditional photographic prints, and image-based languages generated from aqueous encounters. A soundscape - composed of water-related field recordings and audio signals extracted from experimental plant-based film via spectrogram - envelops the space.
The installation constructs a synthetic nature: part landfill, part stream. This reactive, entangled site embodies both contamination and regeneration, proposing chaos as a quiet strategy of resistance. It is a space that softens borders, unlearns rules, and revalues what has been cast aside.
Thanks to the Sarabande Foundation for funding the experimental films.

The film components were created using the phytogram process. In Hong Kong's Junk Bay, I sourced my materials directly from the landscape, using beach trash colonised by plant life as both subject and tool to expose the film. This immediate, site-specific development was followed by scanning and digital composition in my London studio, further layering the geographical and conceptual journey of the work.

4-channels surrounded sound installation
mixed with field recordings and spectrogram synth
8 mins 37 sec
The soundscape was generated by converting images into audio via a spectrogram. The resulting fragments were composed and spatially engineered for a 4-channel surround sound system.

Materiality on 35mm Moving Images
Untitled Collage (Seen and Unseen)

Laser engrave on 35mm polyester film and oil pastel on a found object

In this piece, I create moving images by treating the filmstrip itself as a physical sculpture. The process of scanning this sculpted object transforms it into a new digital form.

Laser cut and engraved acrylic sheets on window

These window patterns originate from photographs I took in Junk Bay last year. I translated the images into a vector language and laser-engraved them, resulting in a series of fragmented components interacting with the space and the light.
